Is your muse whispering to you? Or is the call lost in the clutter of everyday life, stress, to-do lists and worry, a tiny voice buried by the hustle and bustle of a city?
As I embark on this journey to reconnect with my Creative Self, I will say straight up - this is not the first time I’ve been here. Are you the same? Wondering how to hear that tiny voice and then … how to listen … and do something about it?
If so, I invite you to join me in a journey of rediscovery. Yes, it’s a personal one for me - as I learn and re-learn and learn again. But if you’re reading this, perhaps it will encourage you in the knowledge that the creative life is not as easy as social media often implies. I believe there is no right way to DO creative, only the right way for YOU to BE creative.
Back in 2018, when I was blogging more regularly, I wrote about empty white space and not having a clear direction. I found myself with two manuscript drafts and not knowing which to work on. What I needed then (and what I need now) was to give myself the space and time to LISTEN to my muse. It meant giving up something I was greatly invested in to make room.
It makes me laugh (in a wry, shake-the-head kind of way) that I’m back here in that same cluttered space again. The clutter is different, but it’s there.
So, let’s do this. Let’s see where this goes.
If you come along for the journey, I’ll be keeping creative-life posts to no more than one a week (so this doesn’t become procrasti-writing). And for now, subscription is free. I’ll look into a paid subscription and what that could offer once I get my head around this.
Think of it as a heroine’s journey of sorts - in order for the story (change, reconnection with my muse), I need to leave my home (the clutter of my mind) and step into an adventure of growth and discovery.
You can do it too (but it’s always better if you have an ally by your side).
Oh i feel this in the depths of my soul! I have been tormenting myself the last few months about how I KNOW what I need to do in order to move my writing life forward..... but actually doing it? That's a whole other concept.
I have been working my way through my thoughts by (can you believe this) sitting at my desk and witting it, trying to work it out, to see what I can uncover to find the root of the problem.
Essentially talking to myself.
And guess what? It's working!
Who knew {laughs maniacally}
